It is quite apparent that the underhanded and hypocritical policies of the so called "Super Powers" of world politics, who profess to yearn for a democratic and peaceful global community but who's actions imply otherwise, are now being scrutinised and questioned the world over. I agree that this unscrupulous behaviour by these nations, the US in particular, has encouraged more people to to unit against the puppet regimes under which they are ruled. A noteworthy point as you have mentioned being the the whole Musharaf saga.The question still remains whether the masses within these pseudo democratic countries are able to turn the tide or will the greed and corruption which has plagued most of these third world countries prevail.

At the end of the day, Money is Power and with power comes control. A typical example being the whole Hamas and Fatah conflict. The financial and economic sanctions imposed by these "Super Powers" as well as the blatantly successful attempt to dismantle a democratically elected Hamas from their right to government led to the inevitable clash between the hamas and Fatah factions. The fact of the matter is that the word democracy has just become another useful too used by politicians to to scramble people into believing that what they are doing is right and in good faith. The media lam bast us with information and propaganda which has blatantly ruptured the human race. In a time where racism was on the decline and people were becoming more tolerant of each other, the west
and in particular the western media through their portrayal of Islam as a religion synonymous with terrorism has caused further divide between people particularly those with little or no information on Islam. This has also resulted in so called tagging of people within the the Islamic faith with words such as modernist, liberal and all that other crap that goes around. This only attempts to further divide the Muslims from the rest of the world and within themselves.

This being said I still think that muslims and non muslims alike are realising that the facade under the banner of democracy and truth, used by the western nations and their puppet governments, has been stripped bare for all to see. The sad thing though is that tat we cant do much about it. The world now has two faces, and with the fall of communism Islam has become the new target as is evident from tone within the media circles as well as television and movies.
The shocking statement made by a senior adviser to George Bush : "I hate all Iranians" is really something to ponder about!
